José Gotera

Bass

José Gotera began singing at the age of eight at St. Michael’s Choir School in Toronto. He completed degrees in Human Biology and Music History at the University of Toronto. He has sung with Tafelmusik and performed in their award-winning production of Dido & Aeneas. In Cleveland, José was an artist-in-residence with Cleveland Opera on Tour, and has also performed with Opera Circle and Opera per Tutti. He completed an M.A. in Early Music from Case Western Reserve University and is currently a member of Quire Cleveland. Jose has performed in live broadcasts on WCLV and on WCPN and he can be heard on Quire Cleveland’s latest Christmas recording Carols for Quire 2 and on the Apollo’s Fire recording of Dixit Dominus – both released in November 2012. At present, José is a voice instructor at Cleveland State University. He is also an instructor at Hiram College, where he teaches voice and directs the Hiram Men’s Chorus and the Hiram Community Chorus. José also sings with the Trinity Cathedral Choir and Chamber Singers.
